About SET Advisory

SET Advisory specialises in helping people understand their tax and superannuation obligations whether it’s their own SMSF, an executor or family member for someone’s estate. We can also assist professionals looking to confirm their understanding.

Tax and Superannuation Laws can be confusing and SET Advisory can help by using over 30 years of experience to unpack and explain what is required and how to pay the correct amount of tax.

Superannuation Tax Advice

Tax of superannuation can be complex. We can set you right with answers to questions like: Can I use my super if something happens? How are withdrawals taxed? How are super death benefits taxed? What are the different tax rules when there is insurance involved? Who can be a death benefit recipient? Is it worth claiming tax deductions?

Some answers can be complex and getting it wrong can cost more tax than is required. Let SET advisory assist.

Estate Tax Advice
What tax does the estate have to pay? Does the estate need a Tax File Number? Does it have to pay tax on the deceased home or shares they owned? Is it better to transfer the assets to the beneficiary or have the estate sell them? What about Testamentary Trusts? There are many questions SET Advisory can answer and help with to make sure you meet the estate’s tax responsibilities. Planning in advance is the best way so contact SET Advisory to review your estate plan.
SMSF Technical Advice
With over 30 years of working with client’s and their SMSFs, SET Advisory is well placed to assist managing the technical aspects of running a SMSF. Falling foul of super and tax rules can have dire consequences. The rules regularly change and specialising in this area means SET Advisory is in the right position to answer your questions. SET Advisory doesn’t provide administration services.
Estate Tax Returns
Not everyone has an accountant or tax agent to do their tax return. SET Advisory can assist by preparing the last personal tax return of the deceased and any estate tax return that is required. It is recommended that as a potential executor that you work with the taxpayer before they pass to understand their tax records and where they are stored. With SET Advisory’s contacts, some backtracking may be available
